‘TROUSER MAKING’ FULL-TIME PROGRAMME
This training programme will run its course across two years, followed by a 6-months mandatory internship.
Undertaking the Trouser making modular programme will help students develop skills necessary to become bespoke trouser makers encompassing the technical aspects of pleats, cuffs, and trouser cutting, MAKING, and finishing.
TECHNICAL PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
This dynamic programme teaches the skills that go into the making of a bespoke trousers, spanning the essentials of pattern drafting and cutting, a broad spectrum of figuration and ways to correct them, cloth cutting, fitting and remarking. Becoming a trouser maker encompasses the making of a trouser in different iterations and waist-rises, the making of pockets and cuffs in different styles, and understanding the overall balance and harmony between jacket and trouser cut.
Students will need to execute the theoretical learning by way of learning first-hand how to measure, draft, cut, and configure their bespoke pieces.
Students will complete the making of a handmade and finished trousers in addition to learning how to make trousers in different styles - such as high-waist trousers, and even Hollywood cut, and will train using different types of fabrics - worsted wool, flannel, corduroy, linen, and cotton - in order to grasp how each fabric type reacts differently to cut, style, or tailoring.
Students will be introduced to a variety of tailoring techniques - they will learn an extensive range of hand stitches, machine stitching, how to shape the foundation of a trouser, design, illustration, hand canvassing waistbands, and hand make buttonholes.
COURSE DELIVERY
BTA’s programme will be delivered in highly equipped tailoring premises. The instructors are all experienced Lebanese bespoke tailors averaging 40 years of experience.
